THE XVII ALL-UKRAINIAN OPEN MUSIC OLYMPIAD “THE VOICE OF THE COUNTRY”
WILL BE HELD IN NOVEMBER 2020.
The XVII All-Ukrainian Open Musical Olympiad “The Voice of the Country” will be held in November 2020 in Kyiv simultaneously at several concert halls: The Opera Studio – The Great Hall of Petro Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine (Kyiv), the concert hall of The association of composers of Ukraine, the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine and other places.
Co-organizers of the Music Olympiad are Petro Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine, the public organization “ALL-UKRAINIAN MUSIC OLYMPIAD” and Kyiv Academy of Arts.
In the final rounds of the Music Olympiad, Grand Prix winners will be determined in 16 nomination groups
ABOUT THE MUSIC OLYMPIAD
All-Ukrainian Open Music Olympiad «The Voice of the Country» is the largest Open All-Ukrainian complex of musical competitions held with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, the National Union of Composers of Ukraine, the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, and the P.I. Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine under the patronage of the outstanding Ukrainian composer, Hero of Ukraine, People’s Artist of Ukraine, laureate of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine Eugeny Stankovich.
The first All-Ukrainian Music Olympiad was held in May 1931 in Kharkiv. More than two thousand performers took part in music competitions then. In 2014, The Music Olympiad was revived and has been held 2 times a year since then: in autumn and spring. Participants compete in four musical contests and in the theoretical part of the olympiad. In general, there are 90 nominations and 12 age categories.
Valery Matyukhin is an honorary chairman of the jury of The Music Olympiad, People’s Artist of Ukraine, laureate of The Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine. The jury consists of more than 50 people, including the national artists of Ukraine, laureates of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine, Honored artists of Ukraine, famous musicians, composers, conductors and leading teachers of the country.

TERMS OF PARTICIPATION IN THE MUSIC OLYMPIAD
Ukrainian and foreign musicians can participate in the Music Olympiad. To take part in the Music Olympiad, the candidate must submit an application and make a charitable donation.
A participant can compete in several nominations as well as in one nomination of the competition with unique sets of programs (provided that he/she submits individual applications and makes a payment for each application).
Ukrainian and foreign conductors with music education as well as students of Ukrainian and foreign higher music education institutions can take part in the contest for conductors.
Students from art schools (primary educational institutions of Ukraine) and higher music education institutions of Ukraine of the I-II level of accreditation can take part in the theoretical part of the olympiad.

* Calculation of the age categories of ensembles, chapels, choirs and orchestras The age category of a duet is determined by the age of the oldest participant in it. The age category of an ensemble, a chapel, a choir or an orchestra is determined by the average age of the participants. The average age is calculated by summing up the number of full years of each participant and dividing the result by the number of participants. The total result is rounded to the nearest whole. When calculating the age category and number of participants in ensembles, chapels, choirs and orchestras, illustrators are not taken into account.
** Age categories A0, B0 and C0 are created exclusively for ensembles, chapels, choirs and orchestras.

OFFICIAL ORCHESTRA OF THE OLYMPIAD
The National Ensemble of soloists “Kyiv Camerata” is the leading performer of chamber music of different styles in Ukraine. Director and Artistic Director of the “Kyiv Camerata” is Valery Matyukhin – People’s Artist of Ukraine, winner of The National Taras Shevchenko Prize of Ukraine, Honored Artist of Ukraine.
The National Ensemble of Soloists “Kyiv Camerata” takes part in the nominations: “Piano with an orchestra”, “Piano ensembles with an orchestra”, “Bowed string instruments with an orchestra”, “String ensembles with an orchestra (duets, trios, quartets)”, “Folk instruments with an orchestra”, “Folk instrument ensembles with an orchestra (duets, trios, quartets)”, “Wind instruments with an orchestra”, “Wind instrument ensembles with an orchestra (duets, trios, quartets)”, “Percussion instruments with an orchestra”, “Solo singing (academic vocal) ) with an orchestra ”, “Academic vocal ensembles (duets, trios, quartets) with an orchestra”, “Solo singing (pop vocal, jazz vocal) with an orchestra”, “Pop and jazz vocal ensembles (duets, trios, quartets) with an orchestra”.
OFFICIAL OLYMPIAD CHORUS
The choir of students from the Institute of Arts of The M.P. Dragomanov National Pedagogical University has functioned since the first days of The conducting and Choral department. The head of the choir is an Honored Artist of Ukraine Galina Savchuk. The student choir has repeatedly participated in choral forums and festivals.
So, according to the results of the III All-Ukrainian choral competition named after M. Leontovich (1997), the choir became the laureate of this prestigious choral competition and the owner of the Grand Prix. In May of 2015 the choir also received the Grand Prix diploma in the regional competition of student and children’s choral groups.
The choir actively collaborates with modern Ukrainian composers: E. Stankovych, M. Skorik, L. Dychko, G. Gavrilyets, M. Shuh, V. Zubitsky and others.

These concert halls are known for their wonderful professional sound and illumination as well as excellent acoustics.
